So often during the holidays we splurge on gifts for others, but how often do we treat ourselves? Just because this is the season for giving doesn’t mean you have to ignore yourself in the process. I am a FIRM believer in self-love and having good self-care practices. I know I am at my best when I take time to incorporate self-love practices, like soaking in a warm bath, exercising daily (even if it’s just a walk), choosing to be grateful & thinking positively, and yes, giving myself Christmas presents!
You deserve it too! Which is why I’ve put together a 2018 Diabetic Holiday Gift Guide so that you can treat yourself this holiday season!
2018 Diabetic Holiday Gift Guide
1. T1D Living Apparel
You know that feeling when you have an inside joke with a best friend? These T-shirts are pretty close to that. Sport one of these gems from my shop and I guarantee you when another T1D sees you wearing it they will instantly get it and smile – inside joke had.
2. T1D Living Home & Personal Decor
My store doesn’t just have t-shrits…
3. Medical Alert Accessories by American Medical ID
Custom-engraved medical IDs are practical & stylish gifts that can help keep you, your friends, and loved ones safe in an emergency. Having a form of medical identification offers peace of mind and re-assurance that emergency responders can be alerted of important medical information, like that you have type 1 diabetes, no matter what the situation.
Medical IDs that can be attached on cell phone cases and Fitbit devices are also available as an alternative or back-up to medical alert bracelets and necklaces.
The InCase Phone ID easily attaches to your cellphone case or any flat object, such as a suitcase, briefcase or laptop. Featuring the iconic red medical ID emblem, this ID will quickly grab the attention of any medically trained staff in the case of an emergency.
Attach the Fitbit Charge 2 Slide or Fitbit Alta Slide ID into existing Fitbit device and reach your fitness goals with peace of mind.
4. Omnipod & Dexcom Covers
I just discovered HyperPumpArt the other day and love her pod and dex covers! Omnipod covers are a great alternative to stickers because with the stickers you only get 3-days out of them before you have to trash your pod. Which is exactly why these reusable snap-on pump covers are MINT!
5. Sugar Medical Bags for ALL THINGS diabetes
Sugar Medical is one of my favorite diabetes supply case companies. They offer everything from fitted Omnipod bags to supply cases and insulated backpacks. I highly recommend checking them out!
6. A New Meter
Treat yourself to accuracy this holiday season! The contour next one meter has been rated #1 for blood meter accuracy! And the best part, you can buy the test strips on Amazon WITHOUT a prescription. That means no monthly limit on how many you can buy. And I don’t know about your insurance, but the cost on Amazon is WAY cheaper than my cost if I were to go through insurance and a pharmacy.
7. Smart Watch for Dexcom
When I had an android phone I chose this Asus Zen Droid watch and it was AMAZING. I loved the size, the face, the replaceable bands, and the ease of use. Check out my post on how I setup my Azus Zen Watch with Dexcom.
Now that I have an iPhone I have yet to get an apple watch but I have my eye on this series 4 gold & pink sand one.
8. Books
These are some of my absolute favorite diabetes books
