For those of you in the natural community (which I would assume is most of you since you’re following this blog) probably already know about the MASSIVE censorship happening across the BIG social media platforms and google.
Facebook groups are being shut down, entire accounts & boards on Pinterest are being removed, and Google has just recently changed its algorithms to push mainstream-aligned pages to the top and naturally-aligned pages to the wayside. Just type any naturally minded question into both Google and DuckDuckGo and see the difference in your results. These social sites that we once valued and loved are now bought and paid for.
Communities that we once turned to for advice & tips, to bounce ideas off of, to share information, and to have discussions now cease to exist in the name of censorship.
So where do you turn to for a natural social-community when BIG Money starts stepping on your turf?
Colleqtiv is a NEW social media platform coming this Spring! It’s a naturally-minded social platform birthed by Katie & her husband over at Modern Alternative Mama.
Colleqtiv is a new social site that’s built around having a natural-minded community and a place to share openly, without fear of censorship. We won’t play by anyone else’s rules or have to try to beat ever-changing algorithms; we’ll actually just be able to be. It’ll be like back in 2013, when people can connect with each other on their terms, and not based on who’s willing to pay.
Colleqtiv is more community based as opposed profile based. So the focus won’t be your profile with your pictures and your info (although you will have a profile), but instead it will focus on the discussions in these different “communities”.
Communities are like topics, so there will be communities for breastfeeding, unschooling, healthy eating, vaccines, etc. that you can follow/be a part of.
A couple of my favorite features of Colleqtiv are:
- You can vote posts up or down based on how accurate and valuable you find the information to be. The best-quality information, as decided by the community, will be seen first and the unhelpful comments will go to the bottom.
- You can choose to participate in these communities using your real name, a screen name, or anonymous. And you can change this at anytime. This is great because sometimes you want to ask sensitive questions or post sensitive information without your name attached to it (although admin will know who the users are so if someone abuses this or steps out of line they’ll be spoken to).
