Hello hello! It’s finally the weekend and the weather ahead is looking amazing here in New England. We have finally broken away from the arctic blast we’ve been in for a few weeks and are back to some normal winter weather. This leads me to my first thing on my Friday Favorites list…
Friday Favorites #27
Finally Some Warm Winter Weather!
If you’re in New England then you know how freezing it has been here the past few weeks. With temps in the -10’s it hasn’t been easy to do the simplest of things…like getting the mail or walking to the car. But this week has been a breath of fresh air. With temps in the high 40’s and mid 50’s it feels like summer! I even rolled down my car windows on Thursday.
Trying to find low snacks that won’t freeze in your car in the winter isn’t the easiest of tasks. Of course glucose tablets are great for any weather, but they also have a lot of junk in them, like artificial dyes and flavors. My endo’s nurse who is also a T1 told me that raisins are her #1 go-to low snack. And I have to say, I’m loving them too! They work fast and satisfy that need to chew/eat something when you’re low. Grapes are typically a heavily sprayed food (#8 on the dirty dozen list) so I make sure to buy organic. This is the brand I buy.
Sons of Anarchy
I know I’m late to the game on this one, but OMG. This series is amazing! It took me a couple episodes to get into it, but now I’m addicted! Justin and I have been watching 2 episodes a night and are cranking through the series! If you haven’t seen SOA, I highly recommend adding it to your netflix queue.
This frigid dry winter weather has been doing a number on my skin! A friend of mine recommended Rosehip oil and I was quick to buy it – anything to save my skin! I only started using it a week ago but already see huge improvements in the dryness and evenness in my skin tone. The great thing is that even the highest quality rosehip oil is still very inexpensive to buy. And a little goes a long way! I put just a few drops on my fingertips and press onto my face. Make sure to look for cold pressed on the label. This is the brand I bought.
I have been on the hunt for a good prenatal/multivitamin. I started taking prenatals about a year or two before we knew we wanted to conceive, but every time I thought I found a quality brand, they would get bought out by a conglomerate. This particular herbal supplement is a favorite from a Natural Mama’s group I’m in on Facebook and so many women (including pregnant and nursing mama’s) were absolutely raving about it. I just got it in the mail and can’t wait to start taking it! Note: I do also supplement with zinc, folate (NOT folic acid), vitamin A&D, and selenium.
