Pump marks & Dex marks are the bane of my existence. Okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic. But I think we can all agree that they are a pain in the behind. Nothing says invisible illness like very visible pump marks all over your body. The benefit of having an invisible illness is… yep…you guessed it’s supposed to be INVISIBLE!
Getting Rid of Pump Marks
So, how do we get rid of these stubborn sticker marks that tattoo our body? For the longest time I was spending half my shower time trying to scrub the damn things off. My skin would be beet red from all the scrubbing and still I would see traces of sticker residue.
There are products out there help to take off the glue, but I wanted to find a natural solution, and I didn’t want to go out and spend any money on something. So I opened my pantry cabinets and did a little expiriment.
The Experiment
I tried four different products. Three of which were natural: Coconut Oil, Vinegar, Shampoo. And the fourth was rubbing alcohol (some may argue that this is natural too – but I am more apt to put it in the toxin category).
I put each product on the end of a q-tip and scrubbed the area for 20 seconds with each one.
The Results
The winner is:
COCONUT OIL!!
Alcohol swab came in second
Shampoo in third
Vinegar in last
I would love to know what you use to remove pump marks!
OMGGGGGGGG yaaas! I look like a leopard with all my sticky marks haha. I’ve just been scrubbing them off with my loofa which my skin hates. Next site change I’ll try coconut oil. I think my skin will like that better.
I think you’ll love it!
strickland7979@gmail.com… The spot where the needle goes in … How can I remove it….
I am wondering what I do differently because I do not get these marks. I use an IV Prep wipe to add adhesive to my skin prior to sticking on an infusion set so maybe that makes the difference. It creates a surface for the infusion set adhesive to stick to.
The important thing that goes along with using an IV Prep wipe, is that when I remove my infusion set, I always do it when my skin is dry, never after coming out of a shower because after getting wet, the adhesive holding the infusion set in place seems to become extra strong. If I remove it then, it leaves a round red mark that lasts for hours.
