Holy cannoli! I can’t believe how fast this pregnancy is flying by. I am officially in my third trimester (27 weeks) and thought I’d share with you what’s been going on, pregnancy wise, over the past several weeks.

Pregnancy Update: Weeks 21-27
Baby’s Size (and my size)
Baby is the size of a papaya & I didn’t weigh myself this week
Baby is the size of a bunch of grapes & I’m up 12 lbs (167lbs)
Baby is the size of an eggplant & I’m up 14lbs (169)
Baby is the size of a napa cabbage & I’m up 16lbs (171)
Baby is the size of a butternut squash & I’m up 16.5lbs (171.5)
Baby is the size of a bunch of bananas & I’m up 18lbs (173)
Remember last update (17-20 weeks) when I said my I:C in the AM was becoming really aggressive… well, turns out, it wasn’t because of pregnancy resistance, it was just bad site rotation. For some reason insulin doesn’t absorb well in my legs and guess where I had my pump during weeks 17-20… on my leg.
Once I moved my pump to my arms my sugars dropped drastically and I had to cut back on my insulin and revert back to the settings I had at week 16. Good thing I keep track of all my changes.
Noticing some resistance in the AM through the afternoon. Increased basal slightly which has me up to about 15 units of basal daily (pre pregnancy was about 10).
Week 25 – 27
New settings are working great! No change from last week
Week 21 & 22
Starting to notice fatigue setting in. I have a hard time waking up in the mornings and by 8pm I am DONE for the night. Starting to notice tailbone pain too, but only when I’m sitting for long periods of time (like at work).
Took my first nap this week. The fatigue really kicks in after a long walk. Tailbone pain is still noticeable, but I’ve been switching up my work chair with a yoga ball and donut for half the day which seems to help. I also make sure to get up and move around every 2 hours or so – probably the most helpful.
Experiencing lots of bloat this week. Even after a small meal it feels like I just gorged myself.
Really hungry this week!
Total loss of appetite this week. Also, I notice that my stomach gets really tight after exercise and walking.
Give me all the fruit! Been drooling over blueberry smoothies. I can’t get enough!
Still fruit, but specifically watermelon & raspberries
I’ve been waking up about 3x a night between bathroom breaks and blood sugar corrections. With all the insulin adjustments these past weeks my overnight numbers have been bumping me just a few points out of range so Dex has been alerting me… all…night…long…
Waking up to toss & turn about 3x per night and once to pee.
Constantly tossing and turning… I think I need a pregnancy pillow!
Swelling and Belly Button
No swelling in hands or feet, wedding ring still fits. And belly button is almost flat!
