I don’t know about you guys, but this time of year my avocados brown REAL QUICK! Which means I need to use ‘em or lose ‘em! And since we all love avocados I figured you would all love this list too! A list of what I do with browning avocados.
But first off, if you can prolong the shelf life, do that! A great tip I learned is to stick them in the fridge the day they get soft. This gets me another solid week out of them before they start browning, no joke!
Once they’ve turned, and there’s no going back, here’s what I do with my browning avocados…
What I Do With Browning Avocados
Avocado Brownies. No brownie mix needed! And you probably have all these ingredients in your pantry! Sprinkle some walnuts on top, or stir in some melted peanut butter and you can take your brownies to the next level!
Avocado Pudding. MMMmm this pudding is incredibly easy to make, and like the brownies, you likely have all the ingredients you need in your pantry. These chocolate desserts are perfect for hiding the color of browning avocados.
Freeze them for smoothies. This is a great way to save browning avocados! I slice the avocado in half, then slice a few more times on each halve (making about 6 cubes in each halve). I then lay them on a silicone baking sheet in the freezer and once they’ve completely frozen I toss them in a Ziploc bag and put them back into the freezer.
Avocado Beauty. Face masks and hair conditioners are another great way to use up browning avocados! There are so many great recipes for these, but HolisticHabits is by far my favorite! Check out her videos here and here.
