Columbus Day Weekend MV Girls

Happy Tuesday, my friends! How was your weekend? I hope you were able to enjoy both some excitement and some relaxation over the holiday weekend. We spent Columbus Day weekend on Martha’s Vineyard with some of my oldest friends and had a perfect blend of the two.

The Weekend Has Begun!

Saturday we spent a good portion of our day traveling; between dropping Jett off at boarding and making the trek to Martha’s Vineyard our entire journey took about 5 hours. That might sound like an awfully long time, but it really wasn’t too bad.

When I know I have a long day of traveling ahead of me I make sure to eat a good breakfast because I never know when we’ll be stopping next for food. Bonus points if you can incorporate leftovers! So for breakfast on Saturday I heated up a couple of chicken & maple sausages with leftover fajita’s and paired it with scrambled eggs. Mmm! Seriously so good guys!

After breakfast we dropped Jett off at boarding and then we were on our way to MV!

Once we got to the house on Martha’s Vineyard I parked my butt on a lawn chair next to my girlfriends and started catching up! I saw them all at my wedding about a month prior, but for those of you that have gotten married know that you see every guest for a hot second before you’re saying hi to someone else. It’s bittersweet for sure.

My favorite part of the weekend, hands down, was seeing my friends in their new role: motherhood. To see them totally rocking it made me love them even more. …and maybe catch a little bit of baby fever.

Sunday Funday

On Sunday a couple of us got breakfast at this adorable little breakfast place called Fella’s. I ordered a western omelette with GF bread and devoured it so fast that I forgot to take a picture. Sorry guys! Take my word, it was delicious! I had never had salsa in my omelette before (and never understood the hype), but this western omelette has made be a believer.

Our plans of walking around town got cut short when it started to downpour after breakfast so we went back to the house and hung out until the Patriots game came on.

How cute are they?!

After the game we grabbed dinner at The Wharf. I ordered a house salad with a grilled chicken sandwich, hold the bread, in hopes of keeping my sugar down but diabetes laughed at me and said nice try. I am the worst at having stable blood sugars on vacation.

We got back to the house just in time to watch the 2nd presidential debate. We didn’t have cable, but we were able to stream it live from WiFi. And we couldn’t help but break out a game of Scrabble.
