Diabetes generates a lot of trash. Especially if you’re on an insulin pump. Omnipod used to have a recycling program but they have since discontinued it.
So what do you do with your old pumps?
Turn them into Rudolph!
DIY T1D Christmas Ornament
Turn your diabetes trash into Christmas tree treasure with these DIY reindeer ornaments made from old Omnipod insulin pumps. These easy DIY Christmas ornaments are fun and easy to make.
Yield: 1 Ornament
Materials
- 1 Old Omnipod
- 1 Red Jingle Bell or Pom Pom
- 2 Goggly Eyes
- 2 Brown Pipe Cleaners
- Brown Acrylic Paint
- Twine or Ribbon
- 1 Foam Brush
- Glue Gun
Instructions
- Using scissors, cut off adhesive.
- Paint pod with 2 coats of brown acrylic paint. Dry paint with hairdryer to speed up drying process.
- Using a glue gun (or Elmer's glue) glue on two googly eyes and red nose. Allow to dry.
- Cut 2" off the end of your pipe cleaner and twist around main pipe cleaner to create antlers.
- Glue (or tape) antlers to back of pod.
- To hang, make a loop shape with your twine (or ribbon) and secure with glue (or tape) to the back of pod.
