If you’re a garlic lover (like me!) then this garlic scape pesto recipe will become AN ABSOLUTE STAPLE in your home. It comes together so fast and easily and only has 4 ingredients! and it’s dairy free!

What is a garlic scape and where (and when) do you buy them?
WHAT IS IT? Garlic scapes are the curly swirly part at the top of the garlic plant.

If you're looking to plant some in your garden, reach for hardneck garlic; it's is the only kind of garlic that produces a scape.
We have a lot of hardneck garlic here in New Hampshire because it’s cold hardy. Which means lots and lots of garlic scape pesto come late spring/early summer! I like to batch make the pesto when it's in season, then freeze, and use all year long.
WHERE & WHEN DO YOU GET THEM? So where do you get these gems? You probably won't see them in your grocery store, but they will definitely be at your local farmers market! You can also plant your own garlic and harvest the scapes in the late spring/early summer. Don't worry, cutting off the garlic scape does not hinder the garlic bulb underground. So harvesting those scapes!

Ingredients You'll Need:
- GARLIC SCAPES: Star of the show.
- OLIVE OIL: The base of the spread.
- SEA SALT: Enhances flavor.
- NUTRITIONAL YEAST: We are dairy free and use Nutritional Yeast, but if you can tolerate dairy then you could sub in parmesan cheese.
