Friday Favorites #11

WOW! This week absolutely flew by! I took a day off on Tuesday and had a company outing on Thursday, so yeah, my week was super short! This weekend we have a good mix of family time and things to do around the house. I also have a lot of pre-blogging to do because we have a road trip coming up and I want to make sure the blog doesn’t skip a beat! So without further ado, here is a very short Friday Favorites.

Manchester, NH  JDRF Walk

JDRF One eyed diabetic pirates

This September I’m rallying up a team for the JDRF walk in Manchester, New Hampshire. Our team is the “One-Eyed Diabetic Pirates”. I am so excited to be putting together a walking team this year for the first time! If you’d like to join our team, make a donation to our team, or buy a sweet t-shirt visit our page HERE!

Kayaking Company Outing

Working for a small company allows us to go on pretty sweet company outings. Yesterday we drove to the river, rented a bunch of kayaks, and spent the better part of the day floating down river. My sugars were doing great until I decided I didn’t need to bolus for my snack (assuming the hot sun and paddling would be enough to burn off the 5g carbs in my beef jerky). Well it turns out that 5g carbs + kayaking raised my BG to 200 mg/dL.

Isn’t it so bizarre what certain workouts will do to your sugars?!

Mental Health Days

Mental Health Day

Earlier this week Justin, Jett and I headed south to Rhode Island. We spent the night and day with a couple of our friends who have a place right near the water. Jett loved swimming in the ocean for the first time. …and sun bathing in the sand?? which we thought was so bizarre because we had a huge shade umbrella that he wanted no part of!

Cashing in “sick days” for mental health days is a total must and does wonders for recharging your batteries! I felt like I had a whole weeks worth of vacation after just a day and a half.

I had to quit working with my personal trainer because his style of workouts shot my blood sugar through the roof!!!!

Looks like (in spite of a rise in blood sugar), you had a very nice time kayaking.

    Have a wonderful weekend.
