Friday-Favorites-45-summer

Good morning and happy start to Father’s Day weekend! Any big plans for the weekend? We have a father’s day BBQ on Sunday but that’s about it on the books for us. Being just about 9 months pregnant our plans are basically having no plans and staying within an hour drive from our hospital at all times. It’s so exciting to think that our little man will be here any day now (tho realistically, it’s probably more like a few weeks from now).

One of my main goals this pregnancy, nutrition wise, has been to really up the protein ante. A big player in preventing preeclampsia is getting enough protein in the diet to support the extra production of blood. So while my breakfasts have been lacking in the variety department (you’ve probably seen 100 different photos of this same breakfast at this point), they most definitely aren’t lacking in the nutrient department.

So now that i’ve shown you a pic of this sausage, egg, and protein smoothie breakfast for the 101 time now, let’s get on to my Friday Favorites! 🙂

Every Friday I share with you a round up things that have put a smile on my face. I love hearing what is making your week extra special so be sure to share it with me in the comments below! I hope you all have a great Father’s Day weekend!

Friday Favorites #45

Kite Hill Cream Cheese

I picked up this dairy free cream cheese cheese after hearing a few people rave about it and since I’m always on the hunt for a good dairy free cheese I figured I’d give it a try! Holy cow guys! This tastes like the real stuff! So far I have only found it at specialty health food stores, like Whole Foods and a few other local ones near me.

Bayer Next One Meter

bayer-next-one-meter

I’ve been using the Bayer Next EZ meter for some time now. There are so many things I like about it and it meets all my requirements in a meter (see here what I specifically look for in a BG meter). But when Omnipod’s DASH got FDA approval a couple weeks ago I knew I needed to pick up the BG meter that pairs with the DASH system; the Bayer Next One. Thankfully, it  uses the same test strips as my Next EZ meter so my zombie apocalypse test strip stash won’t go to waste!

If you’re wondering what the heck the Omnipod DASH is, read my post about it here.

Little Man’s Bookshelf

We got so many great books from our baby shower and every now and then I’ll pick one up and read to him. I never realized how tongue twisting Dr. Seuss books are! So I’m getting all my embarrassing word-stumblings out of the way now 🙂

Jett’s Love for Swimming

jett-swimming

If Jett could live in the water I think he would. Unless it’s bath water, then he wants nothing to do with it. But if he sees a lake, pond, pool, or puddle, he is running into it at 100mph! Thankfully we live near a bunch of great swimming holes and lakes and can let him go crazy!

Ali Wong on Netflix

ali wong netflix

If you are looking for a good comedian to watch on Netflix (and bonus points if you are pregnant), I highly recommend Ali Wong. Her comedy specials touch on pregnancy, parenting, relationships, sex, and family. Her material would definitely get the NC-17 rating, so make sure you’re not watching this with little ones… and maybe not your parents or grandparents either.

Question of the Day

What put a smile on your face this week?

That cream cheese is my favorite too! I haven’t been able to find their other cheeses to try… i’ve been searching for their ricotta!

I spent most of the day on Wednesday with our grandson, we visited a park, a fire museum, had ice cream, and played hot wheels. Oh yeah that is some living.
