TGIF! Are you as excited as for this weekend as I am?! This week seemed to drag on like it always does after having a short week the week before. I mean, how in the world do we manage a 5 day work week after experiencing the joys of a 4 day work week?! Pshhhh!
Per our Friday usual, here is a short list of what made my long week really awesome! Share yours in the comments below!

Cement floor in garage
For YEARS our garage floor has been dirt and rocks. When your garage floor is dirt and rocks, it collects and holds lots of trapped moisture… And no one wants to park their car in that! Hello mold! We’ve been meaning to pour a cement floor ever since we moved in, but have been so busy with other projects that it never got done… until now! It will be so nice to park the cars in here during the winter months and have a place to put all the garage things without them getting moldy.
I never thought I’d be excited over cement floors….the weird joys of homeownership.

Halloween Candy Alternatives
Before you skip over this one…let me just say that I fully support trick-or-treating and halloween fun! However, I think we can all agree that nobody should be eating 10lbs of high fructose corn syrup. Some of you may have heard of the Teal Pumpkin Project which is a great idea for kids who have food allergies. The Teal Pumpkin houses give out non-food items like silly string, stickers, washable tattoos, etc. But what if you don’t come across any Team Pumpkin house? Or what if you do, but your kid still has an 8lbs bag of candy? That’s when you call in the help of the Switch Witch.
The Switch Witch is kind of like an Elf on the Shelf, but for Halloween. She trades a toy for candy. As told by Mama Natural, here’s how the story goes:
The Switch Witch lives on the dark side of the moon. And she LOVES candy. Of course, ALL witches loves candy, but none as much as her.
She LOVES candy SO much that she’s eager to trade AMAZING toys to little boys and girls in exchange for their candy stash.
Of course, the boys and girls can keep a LITTLE candy for themselves, but the more they give the Switch Witch, the better their toy will be.
She eats the boys and girls’ candy over the course of the year. As just as she runs out, it’s Halloween again – time for another visit from the Switch Witch.
Amazon also sells a story book and doll of the Switch Witch here.
Using DF Unsweetened Yogurt in place of sour cream
Finding dairy free sour cream in nearly impossible. At least it is around these parts. Which is why I was so happy when I dipped my salsa loaded tortilla chip into a bowl of unsweetened yogurt and realized that it tasted just like sour cream! I got the idea from a friend, mustered up the kahunas to try it (despite it sounding like a really odd replacement), and am now trying to share it with everyone I know! I also plan on trying to make my own ranch dressing with this! I’ll let you know how it turns out!
