Hey guys and happy middle of June! How was your weekend? Was it as humid as ours? I have to say, with the humidity and my big pregnant body temperature rising my Dexcom adhesive is really being put to the test right now!
Grif Grips Are a Summertime Life Saver 🙂
In normal temperatures, my Dexcom will stay on well past the 7 day mark without any extra help. But during the summer months, it’s a whole other story! Between swimming, sand, humidity, and sweat my little Dex needs a helping hand.
There are a few different ways I get Dexcom to stick (see my post on that here), but my favorite for the summer time is Grif Grips.
And how cute is this heart shaped Grif Grip adhesive?!
Note to self, I should trim Dexcom’s white adhesive a bit on the sides so they don’t poke through with this design.
…Some Further Dexcom Reading…
If you’re like WTHeck is a Dexcom?! Or maybe you’ve been thinking about the Dexcom for a while and want to know the pros & cons check out my two reviews:
- I did this first one after a couple months of having it.
- And this second one after a year of having it.
And just because I want to hang with you longer, I invite you to get carried away… in all my posts about Dexcom… here.
Speaking of Summertime Heat…
…I turned my oven on during a 90 degree day, and yes, it was SO worth it! While warm & gooey chocolate brownies are more of a fall/winter treat (at least in my mind) I was on a mission this weekend, baking 4 batches of these ooey gooey chocolatey treats.
Why? Because This weekend was the start of my postpartum food prep.
When baby comes next month I know that cooking will be one of the furthest things from my mind and yet one of the most nourishing things I can do for my body (eating healthy home cooked meals).
This is exactly why I have started making some of my favorite recipes, in bulk, and freezing them. Like these Paleo Avocado Brownies, low carb biscuits, low carb bagels, fat bombs, crockpot meals, and pre-measured smoothies, are just some of the many foods on my list.
Where did I get this genius idea for postpartum meal prepping? This book, which was recommended to me by my amazing doula! The author talks about preparing your pantry for the 4th trimester, postpartum, and gives you so many nourishing recipes that are meant to help heal your body. The book has tons of other great postpartum tips and advice. I highly recommend picking up a copy of this book if you’re pregnant!
Question of the Day
What is your go-to freezer meal?

I love Giffsgrips. I cannot comment about a device on a ladies leg without risking being reminded that I have been married for 41 years, so I will not do that. But, I can say my favorite frozen meal out of the freezer is frozen tamales. Oh I am so into those. yumm
Hahah! Yes, Grifgrips are so amazing! I should add frozen tamales to my list! I’ve been on the hunt for good freezer meals!
Okay…your dog in every picture is killing me! hahaha he is so cute!!!
HA! He never leaves my side…complete velcro dog.
The first 40 days is an incredible book! My midwife recommended it as well. I have been batch making soups. They are easy to make, freeze, and re-heat. And it’s an excellent way to use up the ripe veggies in my refrigerator.
