Whether you’re new to low carb eating or have been doing it for a while, the breakfast rut can be an easy one to fall into. Sometimes it seems like there isn’t much you can eat other than eggs & bacon. …and honestly, sometimes eggs & bacon is just so delicious that you don’t mind having it every day… in fact, you crave it! But for those days when you’re looking to switch it up here are some low carb breakfast ideas to throw into the mix:
Delicious Low Carb Breakfast Ideas
Substitutes
Dairy. My favorite brand of dairy free cheese is Kite Hill. They make incredible cream cheese and yogurts. I also have a really great cream cheese recipe here on the blog if you’re looking to make dairy free cream cheese from scratch.
Another great brand for yogurt is CoYo and So Delicious. I like to mix the unsweetened yogurt with their regular yogurt flavors together so the sugar impact is only around 7g carbs per serving instead of the full 15. That way I can add a bit of fruit to the top 🙂
For sliced cheese I’m loving Follow Your Heart brand, although it doesn’t really melt too well, but the taste and consistency is spot on!
I have had zero luck with finding a good shredded cheese, so if you know of a good one let me know in the comments below!
Gluten. I have yet to find a low-carb gluten free bread at the grocery store. So while I don’t have favorite brand to share with you, I will say that it is super easy to make! Using my low carb bagel recipe or my low carb biscuit recipe, you can use them to make bagels, french toast, or sandwich bread.
Maple Syrup. For recipes like pancakes and waffles, I still use regular maple syrup, however I significantly lessen the sugar impact by adding coconut oil and/or almond butter, and a splash of water to my maple syrup. That way, I still get the great flavor but with a minimal amount of carbs.
