Summer 2024 is here and so is a BUNCH of NEW T1D gear!
I love summer T1D swag because this is the time of year that we NEED… and WANT it the most. Our pumps are out, our CGM’s are showing, and we don’t have enough pockets anymore (goodbye winter coats) for our low snacks, receivers, and whatever else we’re trying to carry around.
Thankfully these great companies have answered our call and have come out with killer gear & swag, cool new patterns, and pretty much everything we need to have a smooth T1D summer.
When you’re done reading this article you have to check out my favorite low snacks that don’t melt or freeze, because that low-snack chocolate bar you have stashed in your center console is going to be a puddle real soon (if it isn’t already!).
Now let’s get into it!
New T1D Gear & Accessories For Summer 2024
Insulated Diabetes Supply Case
In my 16 years of having diabetes, this supply case is my ABSOLUTE favorite.
I used to like it when my supply case had a designated spot for everything.
PDM was velcroed in place. Test strips and lancet had a stretch band for them to fit into (which Sugar Medical has and I loved mine for years!)…but what I’ve come to realize is that I just want a small bag that everything can fit in loosely. And this bag is THAT!
It has two zippered pouches. The front pouch is insulated and that’s where i keep my insulin. Not necessarily because I’m worried about the heat ruining my insulin (see why here), but mainly because when I open my supply case to grab my PDM or low snack i don’t even want to risk my glass vial falling out. So i like that its in a small zippered pouch that i only open when I need to put on a new pod.
You can also see that this is where i’m storing a bag of baking soda because it’s summer and bee stings are inevitable and nothing works better on a bee sting than a baking soda and water paste.
The second zippered pouch is the big kahuna. This is where i store my PDM, CGM receiver, low snacks, stuff for finger pricks, my thyroid meds, chapstick, phone, and keys.
It can hold SO MUCH.
Sugar Medical is an amazing company. They’re located in my state, NH, and I met the woman who owns it and she’s a T1D too! So she truly understands our wants and needs when it comes to diabetes gear & accessories. Save 10% when you use the code: T1DLIVING
TWO NEW over the counter CGM’s by Libre!

Intended for the general public (think health & fitness influencers and people who want to improve their health)
Age: 18+

Readable BG range: 55-200mg/dL (meaning it won’t read BG above 200. It will only say “HIGH”)
MARD Score: I called Abbott and they don’t have this information yet. I’ll update once it’s available.
Cost: will vary pharmacy to pharmacy, but should be in-line with their other CGMs which are about $130 for 2 sensors (a 1 month supply).
Libre Rio™
Intended for people with Type 2 Diabetes who are not on insulin.
Age: 18+
Duration: 15 days
Receiver/App: App Only
Readable BG range: 40-400mg/dL

Etsy Pump Covers
Speaking of pump covers, these are not technically new, but they are new to me. I ordered this pump cover off Etsy a few weeks ago and absolutely LOVE IT! I get compliments every time I wear it.
I love it when my medical devices look less medical. And this cover does exactly that.
It’s a silicone cover that pops on and off so you can reuse it over and over again.
The Esty shop who makes it is SugarFam and they have lots of colors and designs to choose from. You can also customize your own!
Insulated ROAM Sling Backpack by Sugar Medical
This ROAM insulated sling backpack is more compact than their current sling backpack but still offers multiple compartments and pockets, can be worn on the left or right shoulder, AND is fully insulated. I have their regular sling backpack and can attest to it being super comfortable and easy to wear.

So many colors to choose from! See it here.
