I have always used store-bought salsa because it was easy. For some reason I thought making salsa (even blender salsa) was a big, timesaking task and I wanted NONE of that.
But last year my friend posted a reel of her whipping up some salsa (in a matter of minutes) and I was like, WOAH! HOLD THE PHONE! I CAN DO THAT.
So using her recipe, I built my own recipe.
It didn’t take too many revisions because, for starters, her recipe was BOMB.
But also because you can’t really mess this up. As long as you have a good solid base, which I’m going to give you today, everything else is just icing on top.
Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make this killer Homemade Blender Salsa:
- Tomato
- Jalapeño
- Lime
- Garlic
- Red Onion
- Cilantro
- Salt
- Cumin
Make it Smoked Blender Salsa
Want that summery-grilled-smokey flavor in your salsa that is SOOOooOOo mouth-watering good you won’t be able to stop eating it?
Bake your tomatoes at 400F for 15 minutes (then allow them to cool for 15-20 minutes) before tossing them in the blender with everything else.
No Blender? Don’t Fret
Though the name says blender salsa, if you don’t have one, no worries. A food processor works just as well (maybe even better) and if you have NO machinery just dice the ingredients real good.
What I Use:
What I use depends on what is clean. But also the batch size I’m making.
If I’m doubling or tripling the recipe, then I, using my VitaMix.
For regular size batches I’m using either my food processor or Nutribullet.
Made Too Much?
Impossible right? But if you really did make too much, store it in the fridge for a week or freezer for up to a year.
More Than Just a Dip for Chips
While chips and salsa is SO good, I’ve been getting creative with my salsa use. Throw it on an omelette, put some in your sandwich, add a scoop to your burger, or dress up a bowl dinner.
